After the great success of ‘Jesus Christ Superstar – The Raw Edition’ in 2017, 2019 brought the next cultural collaboration production. After its founding in 2018, InSPE presented the musical ‘West Side Story’, a production that combined music, singing, acting, dancing, and art with each other.
On the 28th, 29th, and 30th April 2019 we performed our first InSPE production on the big stage of the Shouwburg Hengelo. It was a big success and we are very proud of the show, it was a wonderful experience.
West Side Story updates Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet to 1950s New York, where the Jets and the Sharks are feuding gangs who try to gain full power over the cities streets.
Former Jet Tony and the sister of the leader of the Sharks, Maria run into each other at a dance and fall in love. Unfortunately, it goes terribly wrong when the gangs find out about this forbidden love. It’s the beginning of a big rumble full of dancing, singing, and fights transformed into music, a lot of dramatic snapping, and flying skirts.
